Albert James Broughton's Story

Dad joined the Queen's Regiment as a Private in 1914 (Reg no S/6125). He served on the BEF in France where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. He was wouded & returned to UK, after recuperation he was commissioned into the Royal West Surrey Regiment as a Lieutenant. When the Royal Flying Corps was founded he joined it and saw service flying SE5's.

He was too old for active service during WW2, but served in the RAF and was Adjutant at RAF Wilmslow for several years. As a lifelong Liberal, he knew Winston Churchill very well until he became a Conservative.
