William's Story
An astronomer, William worked as a junior assistant at the Cambridge Observatory from 1903-1913, then as senior Assistant from 1913-1917. He died on HMS Vanguard when the vessel exploded at anchor on 9 July 1917. He was serving as a Naval Instructor and his name is recorded on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
We at the Cambridge Observatory would be interested in hearing from relatives.
