Eric's Story
Left School (Dulwich College) 1915 for Sandhurst and served as a Second Lieutenant in France. Was blown up at Passchendaele but recovered to serve in the Irish troubles, Russian Revolution, West Africa and after a break from the Army in the thirties he was called again for Dunkirk. Returned from France to spend the rest of the war in West Africa. After the war he looked after the Home Guard in Crawley and retired as a Major. He then, at the age of 54 got mariied and had me (his son) a year later. The rest of the family always thought of him as an adventurer!
