Rennie's Story
I never knew my grandfather, who died long before I was born. He joined up in January 1915 and was sent to France following training at Windsor. He served on the Western front from 1915 to 1918 when he was injured and sent home. His daughter, my mother told me that he suffered from injuries received for the rest of his life. He received a head wound which necessitated the insertion of a metal plate in the front of his skull. He suffered from lung problems also due to some sort of gas exposure, and he died in his early fifties.
