Harold Nelson's Story

He was part of D Company sent to the line at Halluch, came under gas attack in April 1916. My great uncle was sent back to Guernsey with damaged lungs as a result of the gas attack. He died in December of the following year and was given a military funeral which featured in the local newspaper. I have a copy of the photograph which was published showing his coffin draped with a flag and transported by a horse drawn gun carriage.
