Charles William's Story

He survived a shell blast in 1916

C W as he was know in my wifes family was a stone mason by trade. He joined the Royal Engineers and served in France. In 1916 he was wounded by shell blast, reported his heart being displaced and given three months to live. He lived until 1969 dying shortly before his 88th birthday. He married twice moved to and return from Australia with his second wife in the 1950's. He remained a stone mason for all his working life.
