Alfred William's Story
Buried with colleague gunner Amos Solomon
He actually served with the Royal Garrison Artillery. A postman from Hull, served with 295th Siege Battery 300317 to 260917, acting corporal, killed in action at Armagh Wood/Mount Sorrel on Wednesday 26th September 1917, the Battle of Polygon Wood.Aged 35. He left a widow and three sons. Buried with colleague gunner Amos Solomon, aged 19, at Voormezeele Enclosures 1 and 2. A copy of my research folder is deposited with the Zonnebeke 3rd Ypres archives in Belgium.
