George's Story

We have several postcards from Grandad Kimmons sent whilst he was serving in The Sherwood Forresters. My favourite reads:-

He was known as Alec (as in smart)

Dear E,

You can send a bottle of HP sauce, its nice with our dinner stew. Also a tube of moustache fixture. There is nothing else I want. Not a big parcel. Love A

Although his name was George he was known as Alec (as in smart!). He survived the war but I never knew him as he was killed in a car crash before I was born. I think he was quite a character!
