William's Story

Father and grandfather William joined the east yorkshire regiment in 1915 army number 14070. William was sent with a draft to egypt, William left the infantry of the east yorkshires and was transferred to the tank corps army number 301881 in egypt and mesopotamia.william moved on again becoming sapper wr/301408 with the Royal Engineers. william was in Iraq 1919/1920 he was discharged from the army at the late date of 27th November 1920.william received his Great War campaign awards. the 1914-15 star the british war and victory medals and the General Service Medal with Iraq clasp. after WW1 william joined the TA Army Reserve from 1925 untill 1940 army number 1849764 sadly william died 22nd december 1941 and Rememberd with honour with the commonwealth war graves commission at st joseph's cemetery middlesbrough loved and missed by all of his family.
