This was my Grandfather he was as I stated above but also very funny loved a dirty joke or two , he was on a ship going into Russia taking food and supplies they come under fire he was shot in the hand , the surgeon said it had to come off , a young surgeon saw a slight movement in the hand telling the senior surgeon, thus saving his hand . He lived to a good old age of 88 years. I’m pleased he survived the war or my family would not be here. We will always remember him.
