John Thomas Cartwright joined the Grenadier Guards 2nd Jan 1907 on a 3 year engagement. 2nd Jan 1910 was transferred to the reserves.
Mobilised on 5th Aug 1914, posted to 3rd Battalion and sent to France on 26th July 1915.
He stayed in France until he died of his wounds received at Boesingle on 27th July 1917
He had the rank of Sergeant when he died.
