Reginald Tom's Story
Son of Tom and Nora Adelaide Budden, of 80, Graham Road, Southampton, Reginald volunteered for the Army in August 1914 aged 15 years.
Four months later he was drafted to Egypt but was first stationed in India and did not arrive in Egypt until April 1917 where he took part in heavy fighting. From Egypt he was sent to Palastine under the direction of General Allenby. Once again Reginald saw action at Gaza and it was during fighting on the 9th April 1918 that he was killed aged 19 years. He is laid to rest in Ramleh War Cemetry in Israel.
Like so many, he gave his own life so that others might live in freedom. On behalf of my family, I am honoured to be placing this remembrance to him.
