Fred's Story

Fred enlisted in Salford on 2.9.1914 disabally discharged on 4.6.1919. Was wounded in the battle of the Somme and nearly lost his leg. He would not speak about the war only that coming out of hospital he met a 6ft. GI in Blackpool boasting of how they had won the war for us and he picked him up and threw him over the sea wall. Discharge certificate no. was 227678 and it was the Labour Corps. Records Nottingham.
