Walter's Story
My Grandfather served as a private with the 1/7 Scottish Rifles as a signaller. I believe he signed up in 1914 and survived the entire war, serving on both Western and Eastern fronts.
He was recommended for the Military Medal but did not receive it.
He was shot on 22.11.17 and was admitted to El-Arish Hospital and according to his war diary he continued to serve after he recovered and ended the war on the Western Front at Bolougne.
He lost one brother, Robert, in 1918 and another brother, James - a chaplain, lost both legs.
