David Smith's Story
David Smith Merchant was the son of Martha (nee Ross) and Alexander Merchant. He was born in Torphins, Aberdeenshire in 1892. David Smith Merchant 9th Pioneer Gordon Highlanders was KIA on 25th July 1917. He is remembered at Ypres Town Cemetery Ref 1.e.8.
