Walter's Story
Walter was my great uncle and he died on 3rd July 1916 during the first days of the Battle of the Somme. He was a brave, popular man who was greatly missed by his family including my grandmother Margaret Dixon.
He has never been forgotten by his family and his memory lives on to this day. I am always very proud to think of him and what he must of experienced during this terrible war.
I am also forever grateful to all those who fought in both world wars for enabling my sons to live and grow up in peace. Thanks to Walter and all the other brave men and women who died and to their families for keeping their memories alive.
