Wilfrid Johnson Northover's Story
Wilfrid entered France for battle on 27th July 1915. He served 1914 to 1920. Awarded Victory Medal, British Medal, Star (15), Military Cross.
Citation for Military Cross:
5th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment (T.T.F) attending 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment.
For conspicuous gallantry during an attack on enemy trenches south of Pontruet, on 24th September 1918. When his Company was being held up by heavy fire from a nest of machine guns he took forward part of his platoon and by skilful manoeuvre and use of ground brought his men to such a position that, led by him, they were enabled to rush the machine guns, the enemy being all killed or captured. He did fine work.
