James's Story
Died in battle during the Balkans conflict of WW1
I have only recently 'discovered' my Gt Uncle James, whilst researching my family tree and was shocked to find that a year after his death, his baby son James died of Diptheria and septic scarlatina, leaving James widow now childless. He his commemorated on the Basra memorial but sadly can find no pictures of this. James had a brother William who also served in WW1 and also a brother Leonard (my grandfather) who served too but became deaf after serving as a gunner and was invalided out, he died in 1953.
