Joseph's Story

My maternal grandfather served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and died at the age of 34 on the 26th April 1915 at Ypres. There is no grave but his memorial is on the 8th panel of the Menin Gate. He went to war leaving a wife and two young daughters at home. My mother was only 10 months old when he was killed and never knew him or what he looked liked. All that was passed on to her were his medals and scroll of honour. These are now kept with pride and will be passed on to his great grand children so that he is never forgotten.
