Edward Blakey's Story

Eddie Carter

My Grandmother often talked about her older brother Eddie who was killed on 1st July 1916 on the Somme. She vividly remembers the Army sending her Mother the money from his final army pay with a deduction for the army blanket that they used to wrap him in to bury him.
