Soldier Record

Thomas Trevor Griffiths (my great grandfather from Wrexham) was a medic in the RAMC and received the Military Medal when he retrieved an injured medical officer from no man's land during fierce fighting on the western front. The story is made all the more colourful by his later claim that he only did it because he was too drunk to realise how dangerous it was!! Whether this is true or not, it was a remarkable display of courage under fire from a remarkable man. He worked for many years on the railway after the war and once arrived first on the scene of a horrific accident when a railway worker was killed by a train. In a remarkable coincidence, the children of these two men married years later and became my grandparents! "T.T." was just one of millions of brave men and women to whom we later generations owe so much. Lest we forget...
