Frederick Charles's Story
He went to Ireland to join the 5th Lancers in January 1916. He was in Dublin during the Easter uprising. The following August he was transfered to the Queens Royal West Surrey regiment and sent to France and saw the end of the battle of the Somme then the battle of Ancre. Was wounded whilst on patrol at the village of Irles in France and captured February the 23rd 1917.
The German patrol that captured him saved his life by tending to his wounds. He was then a prisoner of war in Germany till 1919.
