Edward's Story
Granddad, I never knew you. I would ask my dad, your second eldest Son, also called Edward, what happened to you. All he knew was that you were killed in action, in France.
Dad's sister, Florence, your eldest and only daughter, told me that she can remember a solidier coming home and putting dad, her brother on his shoulders and dancing around the house with him. He was only three years old at the time. Sadly you never met your youngest son, George.
I eventually went out to France and found your name on an Arras Memorial, I was so thrilled to be able to visit and lay flowers in your memory. It was quite moving. God Bless Granddad. X
