Frank's Story

Frank was nephew to my great grandmother Emma Walker (nee Canlin). He was the second loss to this family and a letter to his mother quoted from his Lieut. received under date of May 29th 1917, says Gunner Canlin was killed at about 10.40 a.m. on the 28th by a German shell which burst in the gun pit. The Officer goes on to say that he would like the bereaved Mother to know that Officers and men alike had a very high opinion of her Son, who was always a steady and reliable worker.
