Harry Edward's Story
Harry entered the Royal Navy in 1915 on the submarines. He was initially a stoker advancing to leading stoker in 1916. During the 1st World War he served on submarines/boats Terrible, Negella and Egmont. He survived the war but stayed in the Navy and fought again in the 2nd World War on ships such as Despatch, Victory and King George V and was involved in the Battle of the River Plate whilst on the Despatch. Harry died in 1978 at the Battle Hospital in Reading aged 81.
