Joseph Levine's Story
Joseph was in the Royal Navy from 1892 to 1914. He married a Maltese Lady Lorenza Schembri in Malta in 1901. They lived in Dovercourt England from 1902 to 1904 while he worked at HMS Ganges at Harwich He also spent some time in the Coast Guard 1905 to 1907 in Scotland. Lorenza returned to Malta in 1907 and Joseph went back to sea on HMS Bedford. At the start of the First World War Joseph was at sea on HMS Hawke which was Torpedoed on 16 Oct 1914 and Joseph went down with his ship



Joseph served on the following ships from 1892 to 1914. HMS St Vincent, HMS Duke of Edinburgh, HMS Galatea, HMS Blenheim, HMS Tyne, HMS Empress of India, HMS Surly, HMS Hercules, HMS Fire Queen Yacht, HMS Bedford, HMS Andromeda, HMS Thetis, HMS Iphigenia, HMS Russell, HMS Hawke
Joseph also spent time at land base, HMS Pembroke and HMS Ganges
