John's Story
John Hefford was my grandfather. He was a volunteer and joined the 13th Royal Fusiliers, eventually reaching the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. John is far right in this picture. Shown with a Belgian family with whom he was billeted and apparently become very fond of. No idea of location or exact date.
