BBC Introducing in Scotland's Vic Galloway put this innovative wild bunch forward for Reading and Leeds. Brilliantly rousing, and gloriously anarchic, Punch and the Apostles are a truly hectic septet.
Drawing on eclectic influences as wide as baroque, Chicago jazz, funk metal, punk, blues, eastern European folk tunes and gentle waltzes, they are as theatrical and melodramatic as they come. There are touches of Queen here, some Gogol Bordello and maybe a little Antony and the Johnsons. It may sound like glorious lunacy, but their music is remarkably accessible, and they've received airplay on Radio 1, Radio Scotland and 6 Music.
This year, they're playing a succession of festivals before they unleash their debut album - produced by Mark Freegard (Manic Street Preachers, The Breeders) - on an unsuspecting world.
