Not Squares were born out of intensive improvisation in 2008 and have evolved through an organic process of producing electro-thrash music that makes dance an ideology. On stage, their two duelling bassists trade hypnotic rumbling riffs, over which they layer squelchy synth sounds.
In August 2009, Huw Stephens invited them in for a session at Maida Vale for his BBC Introducing show. They're working on an ambitious debut album, with a view to releasing it in early 2010. Before that, they'll be putting out a new single, Asylum, in November.
