Christmas Poinsettia
Ingredients
50ml cranberry juice
2tbsp apple brandy
cold champagne or other dry sparkling white wine
Pour the ingredients into a chilled champagne flute in order given.
Cosmopolitan
The Sex and the City girls' cocktail of choice. Have it on Christmas Day night when friends and relations have gone and you just want to enjoy looking at your new Manolo Blaniks.
Ingredients50ml vodka
2 tsp cointreau
good squeeze lime juice
50ml cranberry juice
slice of lime
Combine all the liquid ingredients with ice, stir till chilled, and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with the lime.
Merry Berry Punch
For the Christmas party....
Ingredients600ml vodka
500ml blood orange juice
1 litre cranberry juice
75 ml cointreau
a few good shakes of angostura bitters
fresh or frozen cranberries for ice cubes
Obviously the first thing to do is make your cranberry ice cubes. Just put a couple of cranberries in the sections of your ice-cube trays, add water and freeze.
Mix all the punch ingredients together in a punch bowl and taste. It's the angostura bitters which gives the festive kick so you may want to add more of it.
This is a pretty potent cocktail, so top up the cranberry juice if you want to.
Float your berry ice cubes on the top and serve.
