Musical director Sally Brown on their latest project
The Out of Silence Choir was born during the Arts Council of England's Year of the Artist 2000 when musical director Sally Brown found three 17th century songbooks in the library of the National Trust's Belton House in Lincolnshire. Since then, Sally and her scratch choir of over thirty singers have created a collection of songs for three other National Trust properties in the East Midlands - giving voice to the paupers of The Workhouse at Southwell, the Dukes of Clumber Park and the Vernon family of Sudbury Hall. Sally's latest project is bringing to life the story of The Abbey at Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire, built by Benedictine monks in the 1200s.
Reporter Angela Robson met Sally at The Abbey.
