Christine Walkden13 Jan 2006
On the joys of gardening

When she was just eleven, Christine Walkden persuaded her mother she was grown up enough to join the old men in flat caps and manage her own allotment in Lancashire. And she hasn't looked back since. Now a new series on BBC Two follows her everyday life and her passion for plants. She explains why she had to move down south to get work and reveals some of her earthy philosophy on the joys of gardening.
