Midwife-led units8 Dec 2005
Are they really wanted?

The National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services was launched last year. It says NHS staff must "actively promote midwife-led care to all women who have been appropriately assessed".

But with a number of midwives protesting against the establishment of midwife-led units, and fears being expressed that women are choosing not to use them, Woman's Hour asks is there a danger that these units are being introduced too quickly?
