Ginnels1 Dec 2005
How they have inspired a book of poetry

In London they're called alleys, in Birmingham they're gulley's, and in Leeds they're ginnels. They're the narrow, walled lanes that lead from one street to another and sometimes, from one world to another.

Now there's even a book of poetry about them. It's called Ginnel and it's the first collection of poetry by Lucy Newlyn, professor of English at St Edminds Hall, Oxford.

Ginnel by Lucy Newlyn, published by OxfordPoets - ISBN: 1903039746
