Sings live from her new album of Fado music, Transparente

Credited with breathing new life into the Portuguese folk music Fado, Mariza has become a world wide success. As well as being nominated the prestigious Europe Award in the upcoming BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music 2006 she has been made an Ambassador for UNICEF.

Sometimes described as Portuguese blues, Fado comes from the Latin word for fate, and expresses the feelings of life, love, loss and longing. Jenni is joined in the studio by Mariza who talks about her influences, what Fado means to her, and sings live from her new album, Transparente.

Transparente is available on the Real World label, catalogue no. 4776462
