Why are women under diagnosed?

A new audit from the Healthcare Commission suggests that a quarter of people who have diabetes have not been identified, leaving them at increased risk of developing serious complications.

Early findings suggest that almost half of women with diabetes may be undiagnosed and it highlights the need for further work to determine whether there is a systematic under-identification of women aged 40 and over.

Jenni finds out why women are not being aware of their condition, the difficulties of spotting the early signs of diabetes and what treatments are available.
