There are an estimated 6,000 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in the UK, most of whom had their application for refugee status refused when they first arrived in this country. When they turn 18, they have to appeal this initial decision. But is turning 18 a 'magic' date? Should they be treated differently from adult asylum seekers? And are young applicants getting enough legal help?
