Helen Mirren
On playing Queen Elizabeth

Helen Mirren, one of Britain’s best loved actresses, is no stranger to playing the role of a queen.

She was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actress for her role as Queen Charlotte in The Madness of King George, and she is now playing two Elizabeths – one in Channel 4’s forthcoming drama about the Virgin Queen; the other as the current monarch in Stephen Frears's new film, The Queen, set in the aftermath of the death of Princess Diana.

Helen joins Jenni to talk about what it’s like to sit on the throne in the 16th century – and in the 20th.
