The appeal of riding a horse the old fashioned way

It's not often that women's associations are created to preserve the differences between the sexes, but the Side Saddle association has been doing just that for the past 30 years.

They celebrate the dress and practice of riding side saddle, organising their own shows, competitions and national championships, competing dressed as women riders would have done one hundred years ago.

Woman's Hour reporter Sarah Woolman went along to a Summer show in Suffolk to meet competitors and organisers to find out the appeal of riding a horse the old fashioned way.
