Hiding vegetables24 August 2005

How can we convince our kids to eat vegetables?

Are your kids fussy eaters? And if they are, what does it take for them to eat their greens, as well as root vegetables, pulses and fruit?

Do you have a war of nerves with them as their beans get cold on the dinner plate? Or do you cunningly get them to eat by mashing the food or adding so much garnish you'd never know there was a vegetable in there in the first place?

A new book says we should do just that - it's called the art of hiding vegetables, and it's out this month.

Jenni discusses whether we should disguise vegetables or not with nutritionist Sally Child, and food writer Bee Wilson. Plus one of the authors trys her hiding techniques on a pair of reluctant young diners.

The Art of Hiding Vegetables - Sneaky Ways To Feed Your children Healthy Food, By Karen Bali and Sally Child, published by White Ladder Press - ISBN 0-9548219-2-0
