Two years ago, 31-year-old Jane Longhurst was murdered by a man who was addicted to looking at violent pornography on the internet.
Jane's mother Liz Longhurst has been campaigning for these websites to be controlled and earlier this year she met the Home Secretary, Charles Clarke, to discuss the issue. The Home Office is currently considering a change in the law and an announcement is expected within weeks.
Would banning access to these sites actually prevent acts of violence against women? And what about the free speech argument against removing internet sites, even those which encourage violence?
