Fiona Lamdin checks out the Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2005

Bristol was where the modern fashion for hot air ballooning began when Don Cameron sparked it all off in the late sixties and early seventies and there’s nothing quite like watching a take off in the early morning in the Avon Gorge.

This weekend the skies above the city were filled with balloons as people from all over the world came to Europe's leading hot air balloon fiesta. At times there were a hundred and fifty of all shapes and sizes floating across the city. Sue Carden - who has been flying balloons for twenty years - was there and invited Fiona Lamdin along for the flight.
