Why are there so few women coaching sport?

The world athletics championships are in full swing. So far Britain hasn't won a single medal. Things aren't much better behind the scenes - the number of women who are coaching our top athletes barely hits 10 percent.

Two new initiatives are underway to try and get women into coaching. But why aren't they going into it in the first place and what difference does it make to our chances of success now and in Britain 's Olympic year, 2012?
