Michael Howard speaks out about his father’s breast cancer

Breast cancer affects over forty thousand women in the UK each year, and also a small number of men.

The father of Michael Howard, the Conservative Party leader, died of breast cancer, and he is now speaking out about the effect it had on him, in order to raise awareness of this rare condition. Almost all of the support for breast cancer sufferers is aimed at women, and men often feel a certain stigma.

The charity Breast Cancer Care recently addressed this by producing a booklet aimed at men who have breast cancer, and the health professionals who treat them.

Jenni speaks to Michael Howard and Clara MacKay, acting Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care.
