The survival of marriage25 July 2005
Is the institution of marriage being eroded?

As the Law Commission announces it is about to review the status of cohabiting couples to bring them more into line with married couples, we ask: is the institution of marriage being eroded?

We hear from one couple who lived together for 19 years before tying the knot, and ask why they decided to take the leap. And in the studio to discuss the value of marriage, Jenni is joined by writer and feminist Rosie Boycott, and researcher on the family Anastasia de Waal, of the think tank Civitas.
