Healthcare for the elderly20 July 2005
Can hospitals cope?

Two thirds of hospital patients are now over 65, and that percentage is set to rise in coming years - but are hospitals staffed and trained to cope with an ageing hospital population?

An undercover investigation by the BBC's Panorama to be broadcast this week looks at the care of older people in one British hospital.

Jenni discusses healthcare for older people, and asks what can be done to improve standards with Liam Byrne MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Care Services and Annie Stevenson, Senior Policy Advisor at Help The Aged.
