Carole Lombard11 July 2005
Queen of Screwball Comedy

Carole Lombard was one of the most accomplished actors in Hollywood in the 1930s and early 40s. Married to Clark Gable, she was at the height of her fame when she died in a plane crash at the age of only 33 in 1942.

As the National Film Theatre stages its first ever retrospective of her films, we assess her life, work and legacy.

Guests:
Hilary Smith, of the National Film Theatre, and Ian Christie, Professor of Film and Media History at Birkbeck, University of London.
