Poet, Julie Boden06 June 2005
Duke Bluebeard's Castle

Julie Boden is poet-in-residence at Symphony Hall in Birmingham. To mark a concert performance of Bartok’s Opera, Duke Bluebeard’s Castle, she has been working with 20 established women writers on their responses to the piece.

The opera’s story centres around Bluebeard’s young wife Judith, who, having opened the 7 doors of his castle, is confronted by Bluebeard’s former wives behind the 7th.

Jenni speaks to Julie about the project and the different responses of the women to the opera.
