Amy Johnson27 May 2005
75 years since her epic flight to Australia

75 years ago this week, Amy Johnson set off on the final leg of her journey to Australia. The National Archive of Australia has released newly declassified documents about her pioneering flight, and they reveal the extent to which various members of the establishment tried to stop her record attempts.

Aviation historian, Penelope Dent, tells the story of her final historic hours, and from an archive recording, Amy Johnson herself gives the details of her flight.
