Female MPs10 May 2005
Last week's general election saw 126 women elected to Parliament, a record number of women

Some of them knew there was a high chance they would soon be sitting in the Commons, for others it would have come as a big surprise.

Over the coming year Woman’s Hour will be following the progress of three new women MPs, one from each of the main parties.

Jenni will be finding out how their lives have already changed, how they are getting to grips with their new role and what their hopes and fears are for the months ahead.
